Manila Workshops: Toddler Discipline and Potty Training

A perk of being a mom is looking forward to new milestones for our children. Among the many perks of motherhood, I find this one of the best things I have ever experienced. Everyday is a surprise as babies learn new things and does new tricks. Now that Enzo is nearing his toddler years, he celebrated his 1 year and 6th month last Saturday, I am looking forward to bigger and challenging milestones for him. One of which is potty training. I learned from my other nephews and nieces that this milestone can be pretty tedious not to mention messy and stinky and.... (haha!) but such a rewarding feeling for Enzo and us his parents. Atleast we don't have to bring diapers anymore and that means a slash off our expenses, right?:)

Luckily, Manila Workshops came up with yet another great seminar for us parents to start training our toddlers. They even match the Potty Training seminar with Toddler Discipline which is of utmost importance for us parents to teach our little ones at an early age.

Toddler Discipline skills will come in handy now that our little ones are learning independence, curiosity, and a sense of adventure. Enzo has a handful of those characteristics and at times he throws in his tantrums and hits on us. It can be very difficult at times, and I would often find myself thinking of ways on how I could lessen his temper whenever we try to discipline him.

If you parents out there feel the same, then this workshop is right for all of us! To register just go to http://manilaworkshops.com/events/toddler-discipline-and-potty-training and please don't forget to key in my referral code: TYJ PPTD1

Blogger Skills: Mommy Bloggers Philippines' Take Blog Worthy Photos Workshop

Today has been truly productive and inspiring. I attended my morning and afternoon classes then went straight to the Photography Workshop of Mommy Bloggers Philippines. It was my first time to attend a photography workshop so I was thrilled. Th best part of it is one of my favorite mommy blogger, Joy Gurtiza of  Joy Bites was the speaker! (Good Job, Joy!:))

Here are some of my shots taken before the workshop in Saboten.

Before shots
These were some of my tests shots while waiting for the workshop to start. If you were to ask me if my photos looked great,  I 'd say these are a "Pwede na" photos. That is until I learned that the basics of ptography and how these "Pwede na" photos  be turned into its best version.

Set up, Behind the scenes
Afte the talk we were then asked to practice shooting and apply our new skills. Here are some of my best shots. (Hihi! Pwede na for a beginner)

I showed these to my hubby and he said "Paano biglang luminaw camera mo?" Hihi. That's how great the workshop was to think that I just used a Samsung mobile phone. :) Tama nga, na wala sa brand ang camera, nasa humahawak. :)
Afterwards, I also took some photos of the giveaways I got from the event.

There were other giveaways but I'd like to practice the new skills I have on them. There were also to-do lists in the handouts given during the workshop and I am planning to do them so I could see my progress too. I hope you stay tuned on that too!:)
Thank you to all the generous sponsors, #Saboten, #JapanHome #HenrysProfessional, #OilofArgan, #VilladelConte, and #Gouache.
To Mommy Bloggers Philippines, great job on  another successful and enriching event. Kudos to all your hard work and till our next!:)

How to have a Young Looking Skin?

If I have anything to brag about, it's I always get mistaken for a college student. Many times people get surprise when I tell them my real age and I never get tired of their reactions. Aside from it runs in our blood, if you see all my relatives we look relatively young for our age, I'd share with you some of my beauty routines in having young looking age.
#selfie your young looking skin

1. Cleanse-Tone-Moisture
The first part of having young looking skin is to maintain clear and clean skin. To do this you need to discipline yourself in this routine. Cleansing will help your skin be free from dirt that can cause further skin problems. Toners can help in rempving residual dirt on the skin and shrink pores. It also preps the skin for moisturizers. Moisturizing the skin rehydrates it making your skin look younger. The more hydrated the skin the more softer it becomes preventing age marks or wrinkles.

2. Have a ready Pimple fighting products.
Though I generally have clear skin, I get some pimples appear during my red days. I get frustrates with it because it usually appears on my nose and forehead. In times like these, you should have on hand pimple fighting products that work for you. There are cleansers that are made specifically for pimple fighting so you may use that as replacement to your mild cleansers. Don't ever prick your pimples as it may leave black marks after.

3. Use sunblock.
Being exposed to UV rays make the skin age faster. Even if you stay indoors most of the time it still has an effect on the skin, so put sunblock to help your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

4. Drink vitamins and water daily.
Clear and young looking skin radiates from within so keeping a healthy and clean body will definitely reflect on the skin. If you want to have a young looking skin, taking vitamins will definitely do your skin good.

5. Get skin consultation from the experts.
One of the things, I wished I did earlier in my age is to consult skin experts. I often self medicate myself before which lead to a burnt skin in my grade school years. Now, I learned an important lesson on getting advises from dermatologists and getting treatments that are suited for my skin. Getting a skin consultation even if you have clear skin can help you to understand your skin better. I know most people are intimidated to go for skin consultations so I am offering all my readers FREE consultation (except for pathological cases) from Skin Philosophie Medical Aesthetic and Lifestyle Solutions.

Manila Workshops: Make Your Own Dream Book Workshop

I’m a pen and paper type of person. Someone who loves to doodle using colored gel pens, compose unpublished songs and poems, jot down daily tasks, reminders and plan everything ahead on paper. But sometimes, ready-made planners or journals that are readily available lessens our freedom to design our own and express our thoughts by being creative.
That’s why Memory Crafters and CraftCreate thought of having a meaningful workshop entitled Make Your Own Dream Book. A DIY kind of journal wherein you can pick a fabric to cover your dream book and prettify by filling it up with your lifelong goals and dreams. In that way, you’ll always remember all the things you’ve had from the past. May it be adding a daily photo, quotes, scribbles or treat it as your diary. It’s even more special because you made it with the hopes of your dreams to be fulfilled.
With this, we would like to invite you to be part of our first workshop this year! Make Your Own Dream Bookwill be the first workshop for the whole-day event on February 28, 2015 at Scarsdale S&R Shaw, 9:00 am – 12:00 nn. Workshop kits, modules and light snacks will be served!

About the Speaker

Catherine Santos is a Mass Communications major in Film and Audio Visual Arts in UP Diliman. She worked in a video production house then in a graphic design company. In between, Katsy and her mom had a homebased business where they make flower arrangements using paper, dried leaves and twigs and they supply these to specialty shops and exporter. After that stint, she held a marketing and merchandising hob for SAFFY, an NGO that promotes fair-traded handicrafts.
She missed the vibe of having her own business. So, she ventured on her own again and decided to put up a a new business named CraftCreate, a designing and trading handcrafted home décor and supplying stores that cater to tourists, expats and balikbayans. She also started Handmade Manila to make an outlet for her projects that don’t quite fit in to the product line of CraftCreate. It also serves as an outlet for some crafter friends who want to sell their crafts and products. She also join bazaars and have been a regular seller in the bazaar circut since 2004.

Words to Live By at 30

Two weeks after my birthday and everything is going fast... too fast actually. My masters class have officially begun which means readings and a lot of them plus critique paper every week. My teaching classes, on the other hand, will start their immersion this week which means I have to prep them and get them conditioned to serve the community. As a family, we are on our first full week of condo living and there has been a lot of adjustments too.

Been busy right? But I am not complaining and I'd like to share with you inspiring quotes that help me live by and stay positive. Hope you get inspired too!:)

I learned to know what I want and get it. Nothing is too late and noone is too old for anything. See I am getting my masters just now that I am 30 but education knows no number.

You know you grow wiser when you want everyone to excel. When you do not feel inferior or superior to anyone. It means you already have established a person you want and love.

It is in recognizing that we lack or need something that we accept that ther is work to be done. Getting what you want starts with knowinh exactly what you want. Be specific with goals so your actions would be specific too.

Too much energy is wasted minding people who hurts, annoys, or angers us. Focus on what is positive and you will attract positivity as well. Be angry or annoyed and it will follow.

Friendship now at my age is not only about being physically present at all times. Priorities have changed and there are times that we really cannot be with our friends. But this does not make you a bad friend, there is more to friendship than just texting, chatting.

Make yourself useful to others. We are confronted with too much individuality that we sometimes stray away from a sense of community. Be responsible for others and do what you can to help them. Start with your family, with friends, with people who are near us, be a helping hand.

Lastly, the Pope has taught me a lot but I love this one. When we dream we love and when we love we dream.

Do you have other quotes you live by? Share them with me, I'd be happy to know about them.

Every Coffee Deserves a Lotus

You’ve got to love the aroma of coffee, especially in the morning and in the afternoon, when it’s just about siesta time. Lotus Biscoff, Europe’s Favorite Biscuit with Coffee, has finally arrived in the country, and it is going to elevate your coffee experience to a whole new delicious level.

Hosted by Daphne-Osena Paez, the launch was held at the posh Society Lounge in Makati, transformed into a luxurious red airport lounge. Guests with their boarding passes cued in airport terminals for check-in. Attendants, clad in designer Pia Gladys Perey, greeted them upon arrival. A truly first class experience, overflowing coffee was served by Allegro Beverage Corporation upon seating and dishes were carefully prepared by Chef Patrice Freuslon. As the program started, everyone was just about excited as Fly Ace Corporation President Jun Cochanco and Lotus Bakeries International Distributors General Manager Bart Bauwens who shared how the partnership started and their plans for Lotus Biscoff in the country.

A highlight of the event is the Biscoff Creations of Tiny Kitchen’s Vicky Veloso-Barrera. Her interpretation of the Lotus Biscoff biscuits and spreads include Mini Biscoff Cinnamon Rolls, soft bread glazed with Lotus Biscoff spread and topped with toasted almonds. Mini Biscoff Cupcakes is a perfect recipe for first-time cupcake bakers as its main ingredient is a simple dollop of Lotus Biscoff Spread Crunchy and Biscoff crumbs. Another creation is the Crazy Biscoff Parfait, a lavish dessert of sponge cake, mascarpone, and Lotus Biscoff Spread Smooth

Discover Lotus Biscoff for yourself. Take a bite of the deliciously crunchy Lotus Biscoff caramelized biscuit with your next cup of hot coffee. Since 1932, this Belgian specialty has been Europe’s coffee break favorite.  From its humble beginnings as a small bakery in the Belgium town of Lembeke, the Boone brothers packed their biscuits and delivered around the neighborhood. Eight decades later and the recipe still remain. It was in the 1950s when Lotus introduced pairing these biscuits with coffee, which then became a routine in Belgian hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops. And then, in 1985, Europe’s favorite biscuit with coffee became America’s favorite biscuit with air travel. Lotus introduced Biscoff as an in-flight treat through the exhausting long flights. It became a welcome mid-flight break that reminded fliers of the comforts of home and helped them relax. Lotus is still offered in Delta Air Lines (US), Brussels Airlines (Belgium), Middle East Airlines (Lebanon) and El Al (Israel).

The unique taste of Lotus Biscoff comes from the sugar’s caramelization during the baking process. A hint of cinnamon and other spices add that special twist.  If these crunchy biscuits do not satisfy your craving, then you wouldn’t be able to resist Lotus Biscoff spread. The sweet, creamy, European spread is an alternative to nut butters and chocolate spreads. It is the only spread made with original Biscoff cookies. Have it straight from the jar, lather it on toast, mix it with fruit slices, or add it as a secret ingredient to your favorite recipes. Both the cookies and the spread are made with no artificial color or preservatives, 0 grams trans-fat per serving and zero cholesterol. It has no nuts and is completely non-GMO. Lotus Biscoff biscuits and spreads are just the perfect treat for the timeout that you deserve.

Fly Ace Corporation Product Manager Emie San Beda invited everyone to discover Lotus Biscoff, “Filipinos love coffee and we can see this in the variety of artisanal and commercial coffee shops. We love sharing this experience with friends and family, talking over sips of coffee and a bite of Lotus Biscoff will surely make it even more memorable.” Just as its European counterpart, Lotus Biscoff will be doing massive sampling in coffee shops all over the country, as well as in premium lifestyle events were coffee is enjoyed.

Then the 30th day came, and though I had to teach for 6hours, it was still an amazing day. I was expecting that my hubby and I with little Enzo will just have a quiet dinner but I did not know I was in for a big surprise.

Excuse the #birthdayselfie, hubby made me wait for awhile at our house so might as well prettify, right? Okay, so as soon as they arrived I was already complaining that I wanted to eat already. So hubby and I rode the orange jeep and was expecting to go to Harbour square which was near to us. But we got off at Sev's Cafe and I was told it was cinema night. I got a little hunch as it was dark and there were no people around. Then everyone came out with a cake singing happy birthday to me. My family, relatives, colleagues, and friends were there. I was the happiest, most special, beautiful lady of the night. I could not be happier.

The surprise did not stop as they played a video of my throwback pictures. The BEST surprise were Kontra Tiempo and Benny Bunny Band. Been raving about them for months now, and I could not believe my hubby convinced them to play for my birthday. What's even more amazing was they agreed to play for me for the night. It was just amazing.

Treats from Benny Bunny Band, #perksofafangirl. An important milestone in my life happened in the company of people I love and admire. I am overwhelmed by the outpour of love I was given and I am to always do the same for them. 30 is just a number and I am looking forward to more adventures, surprises, and experience with my loved ones.

The people who made my 30th Rock!:)
