Fortunately for us, I am a member of Philhealth and so we availed of the benefits included in the membership. It cut our medical expenses in half. Thus, I'd like all of you to also avail of the same benefits we availed.

10 Unique Christmas Gift Ideas from the Mind Museum

Have you been to The Mind Museum in the Fort? My family anf I have visites this place once after our wedding in May 2013. I have specially enjoyed because my niece and nephews learned so much from it. It was funny too because even my senior citizen mom and dad had a grand time in the museum as well. The wholel family enjoyed the planetarium and the earthquake drill. It's just unfortunate that I don't have the pictures of our visit. I cannot recall where I uploaded the photos, must be momnesia hihi. Anyway, I am planning to bring my little boy there soon too.

The Mind Museum is not just a terrific museum, they also have come up with 10 unique Christmas Ideas you can give this season. Their list ranges from gift certificate to educational toys.
Considering that we celebrate an extended holiday season starting from the -ber months to late January - you would think that people have enough time to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts that are well thought out. That's hardly ever the case, though.

Year after year, people rush to stores at the last minute grabbing run-of-the-mill mugs, picture frames, toiletries and what have you. Fun, right? Let's face it, getting an ordinary gift doesn't exactly usher in the spirit of the season. Why not wrap something remarkable? If your loved ones are that special, you'd think of giving them the stars—something they clearly deserve. You can't exactly give them that, but a close alternative is made possible by The Mind Museum—along with other unique gifts that not only add a twist to your usual holiday flavor, they also inspire learning and further celebrate the season of giving.

1. The Scientific Date: How about a date in an artsy but science-themed gallery, or stargazing in cozy couches in a custom-made planetarium?  Surprise your loved ones and the young ones with All Day Passes or gift certificates to The Mind Museum! With over 250 hands-on, minds-on exhibits and live experiment demonstrations that unveil the remarkable science behind living and non-living things, a date or two in The Mind Museum is definitely a unique and exciting way to spend time together this Yuletide season. (The Mind Museum tickets all day passes is sold for only Php750/php)

2. Name the Stars after Your Loved Ones: Do you know that you can literally leave your mark in The Mind Museum by naming one of their virtual exhibits?  You can leave your names or your loved ones’ on digital exhibits found in the different galleries in the Museum, through a fixed donation that come with e-certificates.  Imagine the delight of seeing your family’s name imprinted on the virtual stars that make up a constellation, or name a specific kind of dinosaur that inhabits a virtual era in history. What’s more heart-warming is that all proceeds for this program go to supporting the institutions’ project of giving free museum visits to public school kids.
(Virtual exhibits’ price ranges from Php1,000 to Php5,000, depending on your choice of show. For more information, visit http://exhibits.themindmuseum.org

3. The Key to Endless Discovery: A year-round, all-day admission to the first world-class science museum in the country—how does that sound? Interactive exhibits, a thoughtfully designed planetarium, meticulously laid-out 3D shows, and exciting science demonstrations await your lucky gift recipient. The Mind Museum’s Unlimited Science Pass also gives free admission to over 300 worldwide science museums, discounts on travelling exhibition tickets, birthday packages, and purchases inside The Mind Museum Store. And because the institution always interlinks its efforts with expanding the knowledge of today’s generation, this unli-pass directly supports free museum passes for underprivileged kids. (For a group of four or more, avail the Unlimited Science Pass for only Php2,250/pax. Visit https://www.themindmuseum.org/science-alive/63/membership-program for more information)

4. All for Science, All for Love: To celebrate the holidays in a different, more meaningful way, why not sponsor a trip for public school kids this Christmas? You can even ask your family or friends to join you in spearheading this project to further enrich the sense of wonder of these young ones. Don’t worry, The Mind Museum’s doors are open to plan and accomplish this advocacy of embracing and sharing the true spirit of the season. (To inquire about this project, please send your email to inquiry@themindmuseum.org.)
Mind Museum is a gallery of endless activities and possibilities so, of course, we have more in The Mind Museum Store for you!

5. If these shirts could talk: Let your friends “wear their wit” with these design shirts that are exclusively available in The Mind Museum Store! These shirts come in different colors and are tastefully designed with vibrant graphics and statements that will truly make science a cool fashion statement of choice this holiday season. (Prices range from Php379.75 to Php499.75)

6. Of Puzzles, Papers, and Pencils: Instead of those tired old notebooks or planners, try giving the young ones (or even your family and friends) these funky Human Anatomy Notebook and Science Alphabet Notebook! They’re, indeed, a safe space for random thoughts, important lists, or mind babbles. Here’s a tip: pair these notebooks with Puzzle Color Pencils and let its colorful tips become their wand to create their DIY-diary. (Human Anatomy Notebook and Science Alphabet Notebook are sold for only Php379.75, while Puzzle Color Pencils set is sold for only Php649.75.)

7. Own the Universe: While these kids are taking baby steps towards their dreams, you can show them the momentary short-cut in seizing the universe, literally, through the Star Planetarium! Projecting 3D stars, planets, and constellations, this amazing contraption also includes 3D glasses for a more mesmerizing virtual representation of what’s above and beyond the world we’re living in. (The Star Planetarium set is sold for only Php2,579.75.)

8. Unearthing the Dinos: Be a paleontologist and travel back to the era of dinosaurs with the special edition of Dino Excavation Kit. Dig for the bones hidden in the gypsum block, assemble them and enjoy your very own miniature dinosaur skeleton replica. Top it off by learning more about the fossils you have just uncovered. (The entire Dino Excavation Kit is sold for Php2,699.75.)

9. Tricks and Treats: Put a little ease and fun in teaching kids using playing cards that are exclusively sold at The Mind Museum store. You can either get What’s GNU?—a 3-letter learning game deck or go for a game of speed and visual tricks with Hyperswipe! Grab these cards now, be the learning and game master at the same time, and let the enlivening game itself, too, serve as an added gift to these kids! (What’s GNU deck costs Php9,49.75 while the Hyperswipe set costs Php1,349.75.)

10. Build Your Own, Learn on Your Own: Teach your young ones the basics of gardening, without having to worry about landscaping your backyard, with these innovative plant miniatures! You can either let them grow the Sweet Leaf, which grows leaves that be used as a natural substitute for sugar; the Mini-Melons that will actually produce sweet mini cantaloupes in less than 2 months; or get really out-of-this-word with the Curious George Outer Space Adventure Garden that will even allow them to experiment right in their mini pots! (Sweet leaf and Mini-melons cost Pho829.75 each while the Curious George Outer Space Adventure Garden is sold for Php1,229.75.)

Which of the ten gift guide would you want to receive or give your loved ones?
I would love to hear your answers!:)

Message from the Universe:Grow Where You are Planted

Hello everyone! Happy weekend!:) I want to start today with a message from the universe. Last week has been really busy but super productive. While we were at the mall looking for furnitures, I saw a bag with this quote in it:

Grow where you are planted.

I loved the quote immediately. I am a person of optimism and pessimism. Yes, you read that right. I am a positive person and I am convinced that everything has a reason. Though I think that way there are still times I would feel frustrated and disappointed about things I could not do. I am actually a coward for new things but I just try to face and conquer my fears. At times I would feel insignificant or not needed. That I am no good.

Then again, I am reminded to:

Grow where I am planted.

I am meant to be where I am it only depends on my perspective. I am the only person that can make or break myself. Every place I go, every person I meet, every emotion I would feel is a learning experience.

To grow where I am planted.

To be significant and make a difference. To accept that I am a work in progress.
To believe that I am created with goodness and potential.
To turn whys to why nots and why me's to why not me.

To grow where I am planted.
I am hopeful that somewhere along the way, I have made someone smile and laugh.

I am growing where I am planted and I am God's wonderful creation there is nothing I cannot do. :)

The Week that Was: Tiring but Fulfilling

Am I glad today is Friday? Glad is an understatementnof how I feel about the weekend. Why?

I'll tell you why and share how my week went:

1. House/condo renovation. Hubby and I finally decided to live on our own this November. With that we had to fix my college-dorm-turned-for-rent-pad to our family's abode. It has been with us for about 11 years so there were really a lot to fix. Last week we started removing old furnitures. We cleaned what we can and this week the painting started.

2. School Work. Its nearing finals already  so there's really alot going on now. Aside from the classes I have, I also do formation workshops so that's another jpb to fulfill.

3. Check ups. This week my mom and baby boy needed medical check ups. My baby fo the last vaccine he needs and my mom for her eyes. It has been diagnosed to have worsen so we had to immediately bring her to the doctor.

That's the reason I haven't blogged for four days already. I wanted blog everyday but I think it would not be possible with the schedule that I have now. Anyway, just wanted to share with you my week. It has been tiring but fulfilling.

I realized that I am getting older but I have gotten more reasons to get better. This is week has been busy and challenging but I could never be happier with our achievements as a family.

How was your week?:)

JT's Manukan Grille + Happy Cream Puff : Must Try Restos in Makati Bel-Air

Okay, so yesterday I told you about my crazy gift shopping in Kids Craze Warehouse and all that shopping made me and my family tired and hungry.

We headed to Makati after going to the warehouse sale because we were to check out our soon-to-be abode in Manila. :) I'll share that with you as soon as everything's settled, for now let's keep it a mystery hihi.

Anyway, we headed to Makati Bel Air as we were craving for Inasal. And since we have two toddlers with us we had to dine where there is chicken.

That's the facade and the interior of the place. It is owned by the famous actor Joel Torre, thus the name and the movie posters inside the resto. The chaira and tables are made of wood, plates are also the traditonal basket like material with banana leaves. It also has a comfort room. The grill is placed outside so the smokke does not get inside the resto. There is also adequate parking in front and some parking lot along the street.

I order Paa and garlic rice. An order of paa costs Php95.00 and the garlic rice Php30 so that's Php125.00. Not bad right? I  did not order any drinks because they serve water.

Their menu also offers other viands and pulutan as well. JT's Manukan Grille has 9 branches already. So if you are craving for authentic Bacolod chicken inasal then you might want to try them. I assure you'll go home overly satisfied and you'd want to go back. :)

For dessert, we ate at Happy Cream Puff just beside JT's Manukan Grille.

Their cream puff is filled with freshly made custard and topped with about 16 flavors. It is freshly made everyday and contains no preservatives. They fill the puffs with custard just when you order it so it does not soil the puffs keeping it crispy to the bite.

We tried Plain puff, Almond Caramel, Walnuts Caramel, Matche Green Tea and Chocolate chip. I loved the chocolate chip while hubby loved the Matcha green tea. The puffs has mild sweetness and the filling is just right that it does not overpower the puffs' crispiness.

This one's I saw in Masterchef which is called Croquembouche. It is made with custard filled cream puffs and stacked in a tall pyramid shape. It is usually served at celebrations. Price ranges from Php1,700 to php3,700 with about 55pcs to 115pcs of cream puffs.

They offer free delivery Makati and selected areas in Rockwell and the Fort. They have a minimum delivery of Php500. Or areas in Pasay and Manila call 817 4234/ 707 1263 10% delivery charge applies.

You can visit them in The Zone 7224 Malugay Street cor. Buendia, Bel air Makati.

Kids Craze Warehouse Sale: Making Christmas Shopping Easy!

Hello my lovely readers! Today has been a productive day from gift shopping to cleaning our soon-to-be home. Anyway, here's one warehouse sale I would like to share with you all. It would definitely make your christmas shopping easy as pie hihi!

Okay, so I learned from Mommy Glaiza Tominio of www.moomymusings.com about KIDS CRAZE WAREHOUSE SALE in Quezon City.(Thank you Ms. Glaiza) :)It was perfect timing because we were at my sister's house babysitting her son so we decided to take a look at the sale.

As soon as the elevator opened at the 9th floor of RGI Corporate Center, I knew I was in Toy heaven. I could imagine being a kid and seeing those toys, I'd definitely go gaga! :)

Anyway, here's what we saw at the Kids Craze Warehouse Sale earlier.

The warehouse sale offers a wide variety of branded toys, apparel and shoes. From infant toys, high chairs, to barbie dolls,  cars and planes. Every child would surely go home with a big smile on their faces. They have toys that are on sale but the boxes are already damaged or other items that are not working. There are also items that are brand new and are discounted about 20 - 50% off. Price range go as low as Php40.00 to as high as Php3,500 but all everything is discounted so its still cheaper compared to the mall. Aside fromtoys they also have clothes for boys and girls to pre-teens. A big space at the back of the warehouse is for shoes. You just have to rummaged through it.

Tips in shopping in the Kids Craze Warehouse Sale:
  • Take your time to look around the place. It will help you scan thru the toys and find quality and inexpensive deals.
  • Ask for a plastic bag in the cashier to put in your selected items. They don't have shopping baskets and it will be hard for you to just hold it with your hands. You can just put everything in your bags and sort through it after.
  • Check items carefully. Check the boxes and the items if its working so you would get your money's worth. :)
  • Bring your Santa's list. Hihi. There surely be items that will fit any child you'd want to give a gift to.

Ps. You can bring your kids in the warehouse because it's airconditioned and is spacious.

Teaching Dental Hygiene to Infants and Children with Sansfluo

When I became a mom, I promised myself to take care of my baby's teeth just as my mom took care of mine. I am proud of my teeth and I have been complimented about it many times too. hihi!:) I remember my mom taking me to the dentist when I was just 7 years old. She also taught us to always brush our teeth and it was worth it because I did not have a major problem with my teeth in my teens even up to this day.

Now that I am a mom, I am paying it forward to my son. I even found a partner in ensuring my baby's teeth would grow and stay healthy. Meet my dental hygiene partner, Sansfluo!!

Sanslfluo Toothgel Cleanser in Orange flavor. Php96.00

Sansfluo offers a variety of teething products for children ages 0 - 6 years old. Sansfluo Toothgel cleanser is specially formulated for infants and toddlers. It is fluoride free and is safe to swallow. It is non-foaming because it has no sodium lauryl sulfate and contains no harmful ingredients. It also has Xylitol that effectively clean's teeth and gums.

What is Xylitol?
A healthy natural sweetener extracted from fruits, berries, and hardwood trees like birch, xylitol is a popular ingredient in food, cosmetic, and drug products worldwide because of its numerous benefits: prevents tooth decay, stops plaque growth, stimulates salivary flow, relieves dry mouth, improves breath smell, reduces gum diseases, and remineralizes tooth enamel at the onset of tooth decay.
Source: http://www.sansfluo.com/index.php

Here's a photo of my baby earlier in his teething stage.

Sanfluo cleanse comes in a clear gel form.

Tips in Teaching Dental Hygiene to Infants and Children

Start Early.
As soon as the first tooth comes out, train your babies to brush their teeth thrice a day.
Training them early can get them used to the routine making it stick to them easier.

Make the experience fun and enjoyable.
You know how kids are right? They should laugh and find their new experiences fun so they would want to do it again. My husband and I make sure to brush our baby together and sing along so he would associate a feel good feeling in brushing. We would invite him to sing along with us or dance before we brush his teeth so he looks forward to the activity. Until now that he's 1 year and 2 months, he still enjoys brushing his teeth with us.

Use appropriate brushing tools.
Use age appropriate brushes when brushing your baby's teeth. Start them with dental brush and gum massager in the early stages of brushing. We shifted to Pen GripBaby toothbrush when he had about four teeth and was biting us already.

Be consistent.
Make sure to stick to the routine and be consistent. Doing so will make your babies and children used to the routine and it will be easier for them to keep the habit of brushing their teeth.

Bring them to the Dentist.
As early as the first tooth comes out, it is best to bring them to the dentist. It is best to always seek for expert advise from them so we will be guided to out baby and children's dental hygiene.

Be role models.
Teaching dental hygiene to our children will be a lot easier if we walk the talk. We are their role models so anything we do serves as an example to them including our dental hygiene. Our brushing routines can definitely influence their as well.

Smiles become sweeter when all members of the family has great and healthy teeth. Sansfluo can be your choice in keeping your babies and kids' teeth healthy and strong. Sansfluo Toothgel Cleanser is perfect for our baby because it is safe to swallow and has xylitol. It comes in two flavors, strawberry and orange. Our baby loves the orange taste of the gel cleanser. He loves brushing his teeth and enjoys every minute of it. He even likes to extend our brushing time.

Thank you Sansfluo, the little boy loves his toothgel cleanser!:)

Thank you, Sansfluo Philippines and Mommy Bloggers Philippines for this opportunity!:)

Balay Indang (The Red Ginger Farm) A Serene Place in Cavite

Have you ever been to a place where you enjoyed the entire stay and felt like it was a home away from home? Or to a place where you miss it already even if you are still there? A place where you promised to bring your family and friends to?

I have found that place in Balay Indang. There's no exaggeration needed because I had an amazingly wonderful stay for our office retreat last weekend.

Main House.

Directional signs signaling there's a lot to discover in this place.

We came in early so we were asked to stay in Elizabeth's Hall first and was served our morning snacks. We had corn dog, Sotanghon and Iced tea! The corn dog was awesome, I ate three of it haha!:)

Hallway of the comfort rooms. It has a lot of mirrors on display. The mirrors are made from recycled or refurbished door cabinets. Cool idea, right?

Girl's CR. It has two toilet and 1bath.

A little drama. Feeling like a Princess in this furniture. Fell asleep while waiting for us to check in hihi.

Our session at King Solomon Portico. The girls were housed in Bahay ni Jacob with three rooms namely Reuben, Joseph and (sorry could not remember the last one)

Anyway, the rooms are very vintage and traditional. It has the capiz type of windows and curtained beds making you feel like a Princess. Each room also has its own toilet and bath. The design for the bath and toilet also compliments the entire design of the place. It was designed with rocks, and artistic pieces inside.

The view from our window. Lots of greens, and places to rest.

Our toilet and bath. So nice right? It's very spacious and clean. Though it had a lot of windows which made it a little uncomfortable for me. But the windows can be closed so it was still appropriate to bathe on.

Afternoon snack. Lugaw with mushroom and Halohalong Turon. The lugaw was delicious!!! I had two servings even though I already ate lunch. It was exciting to taste lugaw with mushroom, because it was a little unusual but it gave great taste to the dish.

Main Dining Room. Notice the door handle. Little things matter and this gives added taste to the entire place.

The dining room forms part of the main house. It can accommodate about 50 guests I think. It had about 11 long tables inside. During our stay there were other companies having their events too and we did not feel congested inside. They also have other dining rooms outside and the other rooms so a big number of guests is not a problem in Balay Indang.

I'll do another post about their food because it deserves a separate post. You would know why when you read it, so stay tuned!:)

Anyway, sharing with your bits of arts and ingenious designs in the area.

Fish pond near the Main Dining Room

Fountain in the Main dining room, pathwalk to the Secret Garden leading to the Bahay Ni Jacob and Hebron Valley, a bridge leading to the Elizabeth Hall.

Buddha pieces were abundant in the place.

It was my first time to see a Pomelo Tree.

Used bottles made into ashtrays, and bamboo designed faucet.

Kalesa.

Entertainment area. They have videoke and a lot of chairs
and tables for the guests to dine and have fun.

More seats and play area for the whole family.

You can also use their swimming pool.

You know what else they have and what will make especially us, Mommies feel giddy and excited?

Little Isaac is a play room for little kids. It has storybooks, educational, and development toys.

Nice right? All ages will find something special for them here.

Just outside is a playground and a barefoot path, were kids and kids at heart can play.

Balay Indang is a place for all members of the family. Adults can have their much needed rest and relaxation while kids and babies can find a special spot to enjoy their stay as well. Balay Indang has planned this place rather well keeping in mind all members of the family. You would definitely feel the love and care given to this place in your stay. It is remained clean, green and in touch with the earth. If you are in search for calmness and peace, Balay Indang can be your getaway.
