Be Summer Ready with these Quick Fix by Skin Philosophie Part 1

Summer is one of the highlights of every year. Family outings, getaways, team buildings are some of the events that we look forward to every time the summer months come in. We look forward to spending time with our families and friends in different tourist spots in the country. And speaking of tourist spots, beaches and resorts, are one of the most popular go to places.

But, the summer also brings about some embarrassing and worry-full moments on the beach. I am sure a lot of people have one or two of these problem areas that cannot be avoided to be seen in public. These are hairs in the underarm areas and of course, fats! Luckily, Dr.Kyla Talens of Skin Philosophie has the answer to these summer-related problems.

I shall have a four part blog post about the new Quick Fix promo of Skin Philosophie to help you get ready to strut your body this summer. First of is the one area most people get ashamed or conscious of, whether your a male or female, this one's really hard to get rid of. As a mom, I get conscious about going to the beach this summer because I still have my post pregnancy fat. I tried working out and eating healthy but it gets frustrating at times.

That's my belly during my last trimester.

If you are waiting for a post pregnancy shotof my tummy, sorry but I might as well disappoint you. I don't have the courage to show it to you.. yet. hihi. Not after I get one of Skin Philosophie's Fat-Burning Radio Frequency (RF) Treatment.

Radiofrequency (RF) energy is delivered to the fat cells in the subcutaneous tissue to increase their metabolism. Localized fat deposits are reduced by releasing fatty acids (liquid fat) which are subsequently disposed of naturally from the system through the blood and lymphatics. Fat cells eventually shrink leading to reduction in circumference of the treated area. RF also reduces cellulite. Further, it tightens the skin through stimulation of natural collagen production. That way, sagging is minimized as you slim down.

Skin Philosophie now offers 80% off on Fat Burning RF Treatment per body part per session. Their regular rate is Php2,800 per session per body part but their giving it this summer only at Php560per session per body part. They guarantee visible results after the first treatment but it is highly encouraged and advised to get atleast 6 - 10 sessions for best results. Click below to get your promo code and let's start getting the beach body we deserve!

Celebrity Mom Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan Birthday Celebration with Mommy Bloggers

Have you ever dreamed about celebrating your birthday like a celebrity? Or have you wondered how superstars celebrate their special day? Well, I was blessed to be one of the lucky Mommy bloggers to party like a celebrity last March 17 at Nurture Wellness Village Tagaytay.

Curious how to party like a celebrity? Here's what transpired that stressfree and refreshing day.

The day started early in the morning anda travel to Tagaytay. The ride on the way was already fun as we all made kwento for the entire travel time. It was exciting as we knew we would get pampered for the day.

The Perfect Venue.

I have known about Nurture Spa for so long, and heard nothing but great stories about the place.  The road leading to the village already reflects a serene and isolated place inside. Once inside the staff greeted us with sweet smiles and hot teas. Tune in to my blog for more details about Nurture Wellness Village cause it deserves one separate post.:)

The Setup

The entire place screamed rest and relaxation. There were greens and natural lighting around which the cold breeze made more refreshing. We got the chance tour the whole village and the farm even. It was so informative and practical. Everything about the village was also consistent with its concept of wellness and healthy lifestyle.

Informative Talks

Understanding and managing stress talk was given by Mr. Anthony Pangilinan. It was short and sweet but every word was significant. He explained  why people feel stressed most of the time and that is because of demands vs ability.

Another talk was given by Ms. Catherine Brillantes-Turvill, the owner of Nurture Spa, a Certified Work-Site Specialist, and Health and Wellness Coach, on the Powers of Oils and Massage Theraphy

After which, we were asked to make our own massage oils by combining different oils and essences. It was a mix of grapeseed oil, lavander, sweet orange, and cedarwood. The combination had a relaxing scent to it.

This then led to the long awaited pampering massage. We were given a whole body massage outdoors. It was a long overdue massage I wanted.

The massage was the highlight of the day and we could not believe our eyes when we went back to the hall. We saw two bags of goodies on our seats and a delicious merienda of suman, ice cream, turon, and champorado. The day filled not only our stomach but also our mind and body. We gained a lot of knowledge on staying well and healthy.

Thank you to Celebrity Mom Philippines, Mommy Bloggers Philippines, and Ms. Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, for allowing me to be part of the celebration. I am inspired to live a healthy lifestyle for myself and my family.

Thank you to Kimberly Clark, Happy Skin, Usana, Kleenex, and Nurture Spa fora special day you prepared for us.

Happy Birthday again, Mommy Maricel!:)

What is your favorite part of the celebration?:)

Maginhawa StrEAT Park: The Street to Eat

I have always wanted to try eating at Maginhawa Street in Quezon City because of all the noise it has been making recently. Some of my relatives have also nothing but great stories about restos in the area, so an invitation to visit Maginhawa Street was something I did not want to miss. Thanks, Sam for the invitation!

When I learned about Maginhawa StrEAT Park, I first thought of it as a STREET food park like a festival type they did before, so when we arrived in the roads of Maginhawa street, I was a little worried that we might have missed the event. Then I saw #91 Maginhawa street with lots of people inside and a bonfire! Yes, that was my landmark because the invite said there'll be a bonfire.

Before I share my experience, let me tell you about StrEAT Park first,

StrEAT: Maginhawa Food Park is a mother-daughter business run by Ms. Kitty and Chesca Del Castillo. Originally planned to be a building, they explored other options to utilize the space. Kitty's experience in food industry (creator of Starr's Famous Shakes) made for a perfect match with the concept and business model crafted by her daughter, marketing planner and graphic designer.

And can I just say, they make a great team because Streat is such a nice idea than a building. Once inside the food park you be transported to another world where people just enjoy food, company, music, and arts. They have four (4) food trucks and seven (7) food containers all with varied and different dish to offer. As Cheska said during the event they made sure that there will be no similar food offerings so that people can have more options and the sellers/owners will not have to compete with each other. The park offers specialty coffee, bread, ice cream, burgers, sizzling plates, secret sauces and cutlets and smoothies.

But StrEAT is more than just a Food Park. It aims to be a platform for and convergence point of budding, start-up, emerging community of artists and entrepreneurs. Food is just part of the actual experience. Built to be an actual 620sqm mini park, the space encourages cultural culmination through various socials and activities. It is an active environment that is all about celebrating artistic sensibilities.

This is another unique thing about Streat Park because there are no commercial food/resto present, almost all of the  restos are owned by Filipinos either friends, families or business partners. There is so much diversity and passion for food and arts that it reflects in the whole environment. You'll see people talking to each other (they don't have wifi), people singing near the bonfire, kids running around, owners/sellers mingling with customers, and people just enjoying food and each other's company.

Here are a list of restos you might want to try once you give them a visit:

1. Me Love You Long Time

A gastronomic  tour of South East Asia from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh, Kuala Lumpur, and the other neighboring countries. With a branch already existing in Malingap, MLYLT has expanded their  menu from Vietnamese to South East Asian cuisine especially for Streat.

2. The Soulfood Truck

An all Creole and Cajun comfort food served with a spice of curated soul music. The husband and wife run the truck. The concept stemmed from their love for the Southern US.

3.  Great Burgers

The best burgers in town with all meat and no extenders plus they have their own recipe for the patty and the sauces.

So among the 9 restos I can try there I only got the chance to try three which is not so bad because it got me full to my liking. I will surely go back and bring my family and friends because another thing that I love about it is that its a wholesome place where every member of the family is welcome and would have fun. No alcoholic drinks are served in the food park, and a spacious place is available for kids to roam around. Its really is just a place to create and share ideas.

Have you been to Streat: Maginhawa Food Park? What did you like most? Or if you have not been there yet, what would you like to visit there? Comment away and share them with me!:)

Japan Home Center: A Home Organizing Partner

Living in a condominium, is equivalent to living in a small space. For a family of three, a studio type can suffice but can be a lot challenging especially as we accummulate stuff. Spending more than a month in our condo has taught me to be more organized not just to keep everything neat and in order but to also teach the boys of the house (the hubby and the little one) where to look for things around the house and how to put things back where they are supposed to be.

Being disorganized takes a lot of time an effort on my hubby and I. We have to always ask each other where things are in our small house. It can get frustrating too especially when I have trouble remembering where I kept stuff in the house. Ever had that moment where you cannot find something you kept just because you did not want to lose it? Frustrating, eh?

To prevent frustration and confusion around the house, I decided its about time to get more organized. Honestly, I love organizing but I have to learn to family-organize as well. This means that my organizing skills should be easy for the family members too which is my hubby and soon my little boy. I decided to make the house organized-friendly that everything can be seen and accessed easily.

My partner in organizing is Japan Home Center. It has been one of my favorite stores ever since I discovered it. They offer quality, affordable items for the homes, cars, school, or just about anything customers may need.

One of the many problematic areas in our house is the kitchen cabinets. These is where we place our toiletries, cleaning materials, plastic and ecobags, and bags. The house lacks storage areas so we need to maximize every space we can get.

Here is a before picture of one of the cabinets.

Before Photo

If you look at the photo, its a trying hard type of organizing as I only used paperbags and used boxes to semi organized stuff. I knew I needed to buy better storages, then a Japan Home Center visit was necessary. *wink,  wink

Here is the after photo:

After. Phase 1.

This looks a lot better, right? I bought the rack at Php288, 2 medium size basket with handle and 1 small basket with handle.

The tier rack is an easy to assemble four layer rack. Its very spacious and light weight making it suitable inside the kitchen cabinet. The baskets that I bought has handles so its easy to take out. I also will write labels on each basket.

This is just phase one of my organizing challenge because I wanted to remove all paper bags and use more durable storages with labels. Will update you everytime so you'll see how Japan Home Center will help me have a more organized home.

Thanks, Mommy Bloggers Philippines for the GCs from Japan Home Center. And thank you, Japan Home Center for making functional and affordable housewares.

What part of the house would you like to organize in your homes? Share them with me too!:)

DepEd, Embassy of Spain, and Fundacion Mapfre Initiates Turnover of Road Safety Teaching Aids for Public Elementary Schools in PH

Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Luis Antonio Calvo, with DepEd Undersecretary of Programs and Projects Dina Ocampo, and Mapfre Insular president and CEO, Javier Warleta, initiated the turnover of Road Safety Teaching Aids for public elementary schools in the country, between Fundacion Mapfre and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The materials were given to improve the teaching-learning process in schools so that students may be aware of how to safely navigate Philippine roads, particularly the busy streets of the metro.

Soft copies of the program’s materials will be stored in the DepEd Portal to provide easier access for the teachers.

Ultimately, the goal is to reach out to 47,000 schools nationwide—both in the elementary and secondary levels. On top of raising awareness among the youth, DepEd, Mapfre, and the Spanish Embassy would like to extend road safety consciousness to adults as well, since they are the members of society who use the roads more often. DepEd recognizes that changes will come faster if adults lead by example. As a start, teachers must be able to learn from the program and share it with their students and families.

The Spanish Ministry of Education and Embassy have worked closely with DepEd on special programs, and are thus very supportive of the project. The collaborators would like to emphasize safety as a way of life. They believe that values and health education are as important as traffic and car safety principles.

Fundacion Mapfre, the corporate social responsibility arm of MAPFRE S.A., a leading Spanish insurance multinational company, operating in the Philippines through Mapfre Insular, has been working with the Department of Education since 2011, developing modules in two learning areas: Araling Panlipunan and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao. Since then, road safety has been taught in at least two thousand schools nationwide. Beginning this March 2015, teaching aids will be distributed and used in schools.

Mommy Mundo: Top Mom Picks Expo 2015

Last Saturday was Mommy Mundo's Top Mom Picks Expo in Rockwell Tent. I got the chance to visit the bazaar and see amazing items from the long list of retailers and sellers in the Philippines. As a mom, it is important for me to get the best for my son so knowing recommended items from an expert is a great help. Top Mom Picks Expo is an event and a bazaar in one that showcases Manila's best mom-approved products. The event was participated by 46 stores that offers great stuff for all children of all ages. Of course, it also had the necessities for moms-to-be and new moms. The launching of the Top Mom Picks Guidebook. It costs Php220.00.

Top Mom Picks is a comprehensive guide containing more than 300 mom-approved and mom-recommended products for different stages of motherhood. The meticulously curated list was borne out of more than a decade of testing and evaluating hundreds of brands and items for our Mommy Mundo shopping expos and events, then further edited down by a mom panel of discerning moms, namely childbirth expert Rome Kanapi, bloggers and mompreneurs Christine Dychiao, Neva Arboleda Santos, Candice Yaw, Em Matias Sulit, editor and writer Jing Lejano and Mommy Mundo founder Janice Villanueva.

Anyway, the event was exciting. The stuff were all amazing and there were some I did not know existed but is really functional. The products were also varied ranging from baby and mom skin products to high chairs, and educational toys. I enjoyed looking at all the sellers as everyone was really nice and approachable. I also loved the idea of a Gymboree play area in the middle, it makes shopping fun for every member of the family. They also made sure that the bazaar place was spacious, well lighted, and air conditioned. All these made shopping and window shopping comfortable and fun. Here are some of my snapshots during the event.

Endless fun under the Philippine Sun

Who doesn't love a little fun in the sun? The beach can be a perfect way to spend the day and get some summer moments with your loved ones. Summer means sun, shorts, sandals, bathing suits, and bronzed skin. But with beach hair and shorter hemlines comes the dangers that not only instigate the probability of skin cancer, but the aging process as well. Sun exposure is, essentially, subjecting yourself to sun damage – but in the same note, avoiding the outdoors altogether is both impractical and nearly impossible.

Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock is the answer to your skin problems this summer. It is formulated with unbeatable UVA and UVB filters to protect your skin in the harsh ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Dermplus sunblock physically blocks and reflects light and it also helps heal skin damage caused by over-exposure to the sun.  Dermplus Sunblock is available in different SPFs like SPF 24 that is recommended for morena skin and for indoor use, SPF 35 for fair skin and SPF 80 and 130 for extreme outdoor activities. Use Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock and worry no more about the harmful Ultra Violet A (UVA) and Ultra Violet B (UVB) rays. Whether you will spend your summer in Boracay, Cebu, Palawan or in Bohol, never forget your number one sun defense partner. Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock is also trusted by Emilio “Chieffy” Caligdong, a professional football player and the former team captain of the National Football Team.

Dermplus Moisturizing Sunblock is available in all leading drugstores, supermarkets and department stores nationwide. For more information call 817 33 03 or like them on Facebook.

Breakout Manila:The Zombie Room Experience

If you are a movie buff or a zombie apocalypse fanatic then you probably have watch World War Z, Zombieland, and I Am Legend among many other movies in that genre. But do you know what I have in common with Brad Pitt, Will Smith and other stars starring in those movies? You guessed it, encounter with Zombies. Yes you read that right? I have experienced real life zombies and to make matters worst, they have arrived here in the country... Trinoma to be exact!!!

Okay, before you panic and bring out your zombie-apocalypse-lifesaver-bags, hear me out first.

Breakout Manila brings to Trinoma their new mystery attraction The Zombie Room.

How does it work?
You are given 30 minutes inside a room with a Zombie, and you either escape the room or be eaten alive.

Fear not, because everything that you might need to survive your ordeal with the zombie is inside the room. To make the game thrilling you need to solve how to escape thru clues and materials available for you.

Before you enter the room, (that is if you have collected all the courage to enter it) you will be oriented by accommodating staff of Breakout Manila. Listen to their instructions so you would know what to initially. You would also be asked to sign a waiver, so I suggest read it well.

After that you'll spend an entire 30 minutes to escape the room or be bait to a deprived zombie. Here are some tips you might want to bring with you on your ordeal:

1. Calm your heart and mind. Your mind can play tricks on you so make sure you bring a steady heart and especially mind. People have escaped the room, it just depends if you CAN too.

2. Work as a group. Maximum number of people is 8 which can work either way. It can be an asset, more people more minds to think. But it can also be a liability, more people, more ideas different from each other.

3. Abandon everything you know about Zombies in the movies. Do not assume that the weaknesses of the zombies in the movies are the same in the breakout room. Get real and work within the escape room.

4. Whatever you do, DO NOT hurt the zombie. Don't even try. It's one of the rules of Breakout Manila so if fear comes to you never settle for a fist fight with the zombie.

5. Enjoy! It's the closest thing you can get to a zombie!:)

Then if you have the guts to be in one place with a zombie or you'd like o test your skills in zombie-escaping, head on to Trinoma and try Breakout Manila's The Zombie Room till March 22. Entrance is at Php300. You may book online at www.breakout.com.ph

PS. Thanks Adrian Benipayo for the experience!:)
